When you lose weight, you will finally be worthy of Love, Happiness and Success (Postpartum Edition)

As a postpartum mom, you’re navigating sleepless nights, healing from childbirth, and adjusting to a body that feels unfamiliar. Society tells you that losing weight will bring happiness, confidence, and success—but what if you already deserve all of that, right now?

You might be struggling with leaky bladders, persistent pain, and a weakened core, making it easy to feel disconnected from your body. But here’s the truth: your worth isn’t tied to your weight. If the title of this blog caught your attention or made you pause, it’s time to shift the way you see yourself.

Did that title catch your attention? As mothers, we often hear messages about love, happiness, and success being tied to how we look or how much we weigh. But deep down, do you truly believe that you’re worthy of these things right now, just as you are?

Postpartum life, especially when you're juggling the demands of raising a toddler or managing older kids, can leave you feeling like you're constantly giving to everyone else—while your own well-being takes a backseat. Struggling with leaky bladders, persistent pain, and weakened core strength can make you feel disconnected from your body, and in turn, disconnected from the love, happiness, and success that you absolutely deserve.

The truth is, you are worthy of love, happiness, and success, no matter your size or where you are in your postpartum journey. If you’ve had a strong reaction to the title, or if you feel like you’ve been holding back from giving yourself permission to embrace those things, here’s how to start.

Step 1: What Are You Good At?

As a postpartum mom, you’re doing a lot of things well—probably more than you give yourself credit for! Start by taking a moment to reflect on the things you excel at. It might be caring for your children, finding moments of joy in the chaos, or making a nutritious meal even when you're running on empty. Maybe you’ve mastered the art of multi-tasking, or your hugs are a source of comfort for your kids. Write them down! Each of these things matters. When we celebrate the little wins, we see the big picture: you are an incredible mother and a strong woman, no matter how your body may feel at times.

Step 2: Play the Mirror Game

How often do you look at yourself in the mirror and focus on what’s "wrong"? Maybe you see a few extra pounds, or you feel the effects of a weakened core and pelvic floor. It’s so easy to fall into negative self-talk, especially as a mom. But what if, next time you look in the mirror, you choose one thing you love about yourself? Maybe it’s your smile that brightens up a room or the strength in your arms that help lift your kids. Say it out loud—"I love my arms, they are strong and capable." Small affirmations like this can make a world of difference in how you see yourself.

Step 3: Be Ridiculous

If you catch yourself focusing on areas of your body that you’re struggling with, like your postpartum belly or your pelvic health, try this: say it out loud in the silliest voice you can come up with! Maybe say, “I don’t like how my body feels right now!” in a funny cartoon voice. You’ll likely end up laughing, and in that moment, you'll realize how much power those negative thoughts don’t have over you. It’s all part of learning to be kinder to yourself and to take yourself less seriously.

BONUS: Take Care of Your Body, Slowly

Reclaiming your health and wellness as a postpartum mom isn’t about doing it all perfectly or jumping into extreme routines. It’s about the small, consistent steps you take to feel better. Start with pelvic floor exercises, focus on nurturing your core strength, and give your body the grace it needs to heal from childbirth. As you gently ease back into a routine, don’t forget that your worthiness doesn’t depend on a perfect body. It’s in your resilience, your love for your family, and your commitment to caring for yourself, no matter how busy life gets.

So, when you lose weight, will you finally be worthy of love, happiness, and success? The truth is, you’re worthy now, just as you are, with everything you’re navigating. This week, I encourage you to try at least one of these steps, and begin embracing your worthiness in your postpartum journey.

You are worthy of all the love, joy, and success, right now. Let’s focus on taking small steps toward reclaiming your health, building your strength, and feeling empowered in your body once again. You’ve got this, mama! 💖
