Taking the easy way out won't help you HEAL - Here's why

As a busy mom, it’s easy to put yourself last. Between managing work, kids, and the never-ending to-do list, you might be tempted to take shortcuts when it comes to your health. Skipping exercises, ignoring persistent pain, or pushing through exhaustion might seem like the only way to keep up with life. But here’s the truth—taking the easy way out won’t help you heal. It may offer temporary relief, but it won’t give you the strength, energy, and confidence you deserve.

Your body has been through so much, and it needs care, not neglect. The best way to regain your health isn’t through quick fixes—it’s through small, consistent steps that create lasting change.

As a postpartum mom, you might be tempted to take the easy way out, especially when it comes to your health. But trust me, the easy way out isn’t the solution. While it may feel comforting in the short term, it's not helping you reclaim your strength, vitality, and health—especially if you're dealing with leaky bladders, persistent pain, or weak core strength.

The easy way out is an act of self-betrayal. It may give you temporary relief, but it doesn’t support your long-term well-being. Instead, it often leaves you feeling drained, frustrated, and defeated.

Here are a few examples of how you might be taking the easy way out without realizing it:

  • Skipping exercises or not taking the time to do the pelvic floor or core strengthening routines that could alleviate your pain.

  • Choosing unhealthy snacks to cope with exhaustion instead of nourishing your body with food that supports healing.

  • Pretending everything is fine, avoiding confronting the reality of your symptoms, and not seeking help.

  • Prioritizing others (like your kids or spouse) over your own health and wellness needs.

  • Putting off appointments or treatment because it feels easier to just live with the discomfort.

These patterns—though they might seem like simple, everyday decisions—have long-term effects on your recovery and overall health. They keep you stuck in a cycle of discomfort and frustration.

But here’s the truth: Taking the easy way out will only keep you from achieving the strength, confidence, and peace you deserve. You don’t have to settle for feeling less than your best.

The good news is that change is possible. It doesn’t require huge leaps, just small, consistent steps:

  • Prioritize your health: Take the time to care for your body with gentle movements and exercises that strengthen your core and pelvic floor.

  • Nourish yourself: Instead of reaching for comfort food, fuel your body with meals that support your healing process.

  • Be honest with yourself: Face the challenges you’re dealing with. Seek support when you need it, whether from a professional or a supportive community.

  • Commit to small wins: Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small it seems. Progress is progress!

You are worth the effort. The health of your body and mind matters, and it’s okay to prioritize yourself, even in the midst of motherhood.

It might feel hard, but remember that you have the strength within you to heal. You are capable of making the changes that will bring you lasting wellness. You are enough, and your health is worth every step forward you take.
